Win the Sale by Winning Your Customer's Heart - Management Tip of the Day - July 29, 2010 - Harvard Business Review

Customers are far more likely to purchase a product or service if they feel valued by the person selling it. Underappreciated customers will look elsewhere to make their purchase. Reach out to your customers and make sure they know how important they are to you. Give them the opportunity to meet as many of your staff as possible, all the way up to the CEO. Thank them for their business and ask them to tell you about their company. When you create an emotional connection with them, they are more open to hearing what you have to offer, and much more inclined to purchase. This needs to be a genuine connection, however; your overtures shouldn't be phony or insincere.

Should Online Newspapers charge the readers?

The online newspaper industry has decided to make profit by charging the readers. They believe that the sales drop of the printed newspapers has resulted due to the free accessibility of the online newspapers. Also, the belief is that the readers are willing to pay. Times being the first to implement this others are expected to follow soon. Is this true with the Asian Countries?

My opinion is that the Newspaper Industry has to find alternative ways to generate revenue through interactive and innovative methods of advertisements and sponsorships and charge the readers who would not perfer to get exposed to the clutter. What is your opinion? Please comment....
